How to care for a tattoo?
The tattoo artist puts a wound membrane over the fresh tattoo. The wound membrane is allowed to remain on the skin for 3-5 days, after which the wound membrane is removed from the skin (preferably in the shower). After removing the wound membrane, the tattoo is rinsed with water and the skin is allowed to dry on its own.
The tattoo should be greased at least 3 times a day. As fat, it is recommended to use the tattoo fat sold at the studio. A thin layer of grease is applied over the entire tattoo.
A tattoo is a fresh wound, so it must be kept clean. Saunas and swimming are prohibited for three weeks. Also avoid sweating during the healing phase of the tattoo. Protect the tattoo from direct sunlight for a few months.
It is normal for the tattoo to be red for a few days. During the healing phase of the tattoo, a scab will form on the tattoo, which will come off by itself, so you should not tear it off yourself. Good hygiene and greasing reduce the risk of tattoo inflammation.
The healing time of the tattoo is about 4 weeks.
If the tattoo becomes inflamed, contact the tattooist or doctor immediately.
